Packaging Design
To design a product package, more than graphic design is at play. An eye-catching product is a marriage of art, language, tactile aesthetics, and intention, effectively communicating why the consumer should purchase your product.
Over the years, I have both created original art and packaging and worked with other designers to find commercial solutions.

Ancient Sun Nutrition
Ancient Sun is a high-end nutrition company that offers a full line of nutriceuticals, supplements, and raw food products. I worked with the company's CEO and creative support team to use the company's brand artwork into a single label file. Over the years, I worked with the art in a more hands-on way, changing fonts, reworking original Photoshop files, applying new gradients to logos, and resizing labels for new bottles. Photography was also required.
Pepper Road
Pepper Road is a hot sauce brand whose story followed the spread of the chili plant across Europe, Africa, and Asia and into the New World. Each unique recipe focused on a regional theme.
Top Flight
Top Flight is a brand of infused alcohol undergoing consumer trials. The brand's story and packaging sold a feeling of magic and possibility, using crisp and iconic artwork.
Story of the Black Dragon
“And the dragon did descend upon me, smashing through the roof of my tavern, his scales black as night, yet they glistened with moonlight brighter than any lamp. Terrible he was, though he spoke softly. “Pour me your finest drink, and I may let you live.” So I reached behind the portrait of my sainted mother, for the secret compartment, the bottle reserved only for kings, queens, djinns, and dragons. I poured two glasses.” |
[Back labels had a story for each brand]
Story of the Fire Bird “Lost in the desert, we went without water for days. The horses had already died. Then a man appeared before us, wide brimmed hat and a toothy grin. He only had enough water for one of us, so I let my friend drink. The stranger smiled and gave me a bottle of strange, red liquid. I held it to the light, and it was as if the sun had been trapped inside. The drink burned my mouth but enlivened my spirit. I turned to thank the stranger, but he was gone. Above was a bird that seemed to leave a trail of fire across the sky.” |
